Michael R. Garvey, CPA
Michael graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 1986 and has been in public accounting since 1990. He specializes in all matters of taxation and auditing of credit unions and not-for-profit organizations. Michael currently serves as a board member of SI Financial Group, Inc. (Savings Institute Bank & Trust Company) where he chairs the audit committee and sits on the compensation and corporate governance committees. In addition, Michael is a past president of the Rotary Club of Mystic, past board president of CPAConnect (an association of independent CPA firms), and has served as treasurer of the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center and Calvary Episcopal Church. Michael lives in Pawcatuck with his wife Alexa and together they have four daughters, Sara, Maegan, Michelle and Hannah.
Richard B. Steele, CPA
Richard B. Steele, CPA graduated from Central Connecticut State University in May, 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He worked for Peat Marwick (now KPMG) in the Hartford, CT office for 3 years before returning to the shoreline in 1989. Since 1989 he has served individual, small business and non-profit clients in both the Mystic and Putnam offices. He is a past Treasurer of Waterford Little League and a past Vice- President of Southeastern Connecticut Youth Hockey. He resides in Waterford with his wife Tina. He has three sons- Scott and Jason, who are in college, and Brian, who graduated from George Washington University and resides in Washington, D.C.
N. Alex Bancroft, CPA
N. Alex Bancroft, CPA graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She is an audit partner with the firm, with concentrations in governmental, credit union, and other not-for-profit auditing. Alex is the treasurer of Free to Run, Inc., a not-for-profit organization which empowers women through sports in Afghanistan and Iraq. She also is a race director with Berkshires Ultra Running Community for Service (BURCS), which puts on ultra-marathon races in Massachusetts to support local not-for-profit organizations. Alex is an avid ultra-marathoner herself and has completed runs of over 26.2 miles all over the country. Alex lives in Pawcatuck with her husband Mark.
